A PDO Thread Lift is a minimally invasive treatment that uses dissolvable threads made from Polydioxanone (PDO) to restore collagen and visibly lift the skin. Once inserted, the threads anchor the skin and when pulled back gently, lift it upwards resulting in a refreshed, youthful look.

​In addition to lifting the skin, PDO threads stimulate our body’s natural healing response and infuse the skin with fresh collagen, which further improves texture and firmness. Unlike a traditional, surgical facelift, a PDO Thread Lift does not involve incisions. It is a quick and effective lunchtime procedure with little to no downtime. 

Smooth threads are known for their ability to create volume by stimulating the body's natural collagen regeneration and bringing back youthful, smooth facial appearances without running the risk of looking over-treated. PDO Smooth Threads can be a strong alternative to fillers and can be used when fillers are not delivering outstanding results. Because they do not have barbs to pull back skin, they are ideal for areas that lose volume & crease like the lips or cheeks.

The lifting threads are inserted into the deeper layers of the skin. The threads serve as an “anchor” that lifts and tightens the skin and will fully absorb after about six months. A V-shape is thought to be the sign of a beautiful and healthy face. As gravity sets in and aging takes place, the V-shape begins to disappear over time. With PDO lifting threads, a type of “scaffolding” is created in order to support the tissues and maintain the V-shape.

What type of PDO Threads do you use?

We use NovaThreads®, which are synthetic dissolving surgical sutures used to temporarily lift and tighten areas. The suture is composed of polydioxanone a biomaterial that is safe to use in the body. The suture threads are strategically placed under the skin and pulled in either one or two ways. The threads have a special grip that pulls and lifts the area. Over time the thread will begin to get absorbed by the body. As the thread dissolves, it stimulates the natural production of collagen to continually improve results.*

What to Expect and How Long Will Results Last?

When you come in for the procedure, a numbing cream will be placed on the treated area. Once the area is numb, our practitioner will place the candela through the skin. The candela will house the thread until the thread is pulled to achieve the desired result. After the procedure, your skin will be slightly swollen but noticeably lifted. Expect full results within a few days. The results can be seen for 1-2 years. We recommend coming in for a follow up after the first few months and maintenance treatments every 6-8 months.*

Are PDO Threads Safe?

Yes! PDO Thread Lifts are a low-risk, FDA-approved treatment with virtually no side effects. You may experience redness, swelling, and mild sensitivity to touch; however, those side effects typically disappear within a few days.
